Midsummer Fair

Midsummer Fair is a 5-reel, 3-row game with 10 lines, set at a village fair on the longest day. When the maypole lands on reel 2, 3 or 4, it stretches to cover the whole reel before the lines are counted.

How it plays

The rules of Midsummer Fair

  1. Each spin plays 10 lines, and a win needs at least 3 matching symbols on a line, starting on reel 1.
  2. The maypole appears only on reels 2, 3 and 4. When one lands, it fills all three rows of its reel and then the lines are counted, so one maypole joins every line that crosses that reel.
  3. The maypole stands in for every symbol and has no pay of its own. A line cannot start with it, because it never lands on reel 1.
  4. There are no free spins. Wins come less often than in the line games with more lines (1 spin in 2.7 in our test), because only 10 lines are played.

The feature

The maypole fills its reel

Two maypoles on reels 2 and 4 cover six cells, and any symbol on reel 1 that also shows on reel 3 then makes a run of at least four. The biggest round in our test returned 258 times the spin cost.

Midsummer Fair: illustration of dancers round a maypole with a fiddler and a drummer
The cover shows dancers holding red, blue and gold ribbons round a maypole, a fiddler and a drummer, bunting between the trees and honey cakes on a trestle table, with a bonfire lit on the hill behind. The symbols are those same things, from the fiddle (highest) to a single daisy (lowest).

What pays

Symbols and pays in Midsummer Fair

At 100 coins a spin on 10 lines, each line costs 10 coins, so three fiddle symbols on a line pay 30 × 10 = 300 coins.

Pays are in multiples of the line cost. “3 for 50” means three in a row pay 50 times that amount.
